FeN CLIMATE AND INNOVATION CENTRE

About us

Our Mission

To accelerate Ghana’s transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy by building the institutional, financial, and entrepreneurial infrastructure that connects national climate commitments to local enterprise and community outcomes.

Climate Action That Creates Jobs

Ghana’s climate transition should open new opportunities for employment and enterprise.

Locally Owned Green Businesses

Green growth should support Ghanaian entrepreneurs and keep more value inside Ghana.

Finance Reaching Local Enterprise

Climate finance should be easier for capable local businesses to access and use.

Community-Level Impact

National climate commitments should lead to real benefits for local communities.

The Evidence Base

FeN CIC is the operational vehicle for founding doctoral research involving 320 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and 83 stakeholders across Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The research found that many Ghanaian SMEs remain excluded from climate finance despite their potential to contribute to green enterprise and carbon-market participation.

The Name — Our Legacy

The Centre proudly carries the name of Felix Ntrakwah, a defining figure in Ghanaian legal education.
His lifelong commitment to principled leadership, professional excellence, and accessible institution-building continues to inspire the values of FeN CIC today.

Our founding values include:

Independence

FeN CIC operates as an independent, Ghanaian-led, not-for-profit organisation with its own Board and governance structure. While the Centre works closely with FeN University College and industry practitioners through academic partnerships, research, and mentorship, it remains legally and operationally independent. This independence allows the Centre to work objectively with government, development partners, private-sector organisations, universities, and entrepreneurs in pursuit of Ghana’s climate goals.
